Most everyone else is in the middle, especially me.</p> <p>I am a waiter, and I hate every fucking minute of it.</p> <p>It's hard to describe the feeling when I see a group of people sitting down at a table in my section. But the closest word I can think of is boiling. We have tacitly agreed that I am inferior and must respect their authority. I must approach them and politely ask what it is they would like to consume. I must pretend that I care about their wants and that their "business" is appreciated. I must smile into the face of my captor and pretend that I am enjoying imprisonment. I have surrended my identity in order to dance like an animal in a circus for spare change. I don't blame myself for the situation I'm in, I blame the customers. I don't care how reasonable or pleasant they are. They have made me their monkey so fuck them.</p> <p>I have actually walked away from tables thinking "I hope your kids die in a car fire."
